The second-printing poster we have here offers the same popular and iconic art for far less than the elusive First Print currently commands. The second printing was produced on a glossy paper stock which reflects the light, using the same original plate and the same sized paper. The first printings, which were a run of 300, were printed on a more flat-stock paper. It can be difficult to tell them apart without having each side by side for comparison. Poster historian Brad Kelley recently assisted us with determining the subtle differences between the two printings. Thanks Brad!
This show was played in a tiny Salt Lake City ballroom at the University Of Utah for a few hundred lucky fans. The Dead performed their classic experimental narrative of Dark Star, Saint Stephen, The Eleven, Lovelight in the second set of this concert.
Artwork by Richard Winn Taylor, one of the two major light show creators of "Rainbow Jam" Lights, and later on art director for the first TRON movie. This concert was an "SDS Ball", an event promoted by the local branch of "Students for a Democratic Society", a major leftist organization which pulled together a great many Vietnam War protests across the entire country back in the day.
