Here's a magnificent head-turner that contains everything you could ever want all in one poster! James Brown was the man who started it all, giving this poster unsurpassed historical significance. This poster advertised his appearance at the Cobo Arena in Detroit on November 25th, 1971. Supporting acts included The Dramatics, Bobby Byrd, The Stylistics, Clay Tyson, and Lynn Collins. This is a CARDBOARD GLOBE poster and Globe posters are universally considered among the most desirable concert posters EVER issued. The bottom of the poster announces a "Hot Pants Contest", likely in reference to Brown's hit song "Hot Pants", with "10 Bicycles Given Away for Free". Though we can't be sure what the contest entailed, it was surely something to behold!

From its opening in 1929 until its closure in 2010, Globe Poster Company in Baltimore was the go-to place for musicians, circuses, drag races, and concert producers for bold, eye-catching letterpress advertising. It's no secret that Globe cardboard concert posters are the gold standard amongst advanced collectors. They rarely show up at public auction and when they do, they are always met with enthusiastic bidding!
