This rare poster was produced for Stevie Wonder, Gil Scott-Heron, and Wonderlove appearing at the LA Forum for two nights in December 1980. The picture of Stevie at the top of the poster comes from the cover of his album "Hotter Than July", his nineteenth studio release that he was on tour to promote. The album's final track "Happy Birthday" was written to honor the late Martin Luther King Jr. A few months before this show, Stevie Wonder had joined members of the Black Caucus in the US Congress to begin campaigning to make King's birthday, January 15th, a national holiday. This tour was an extension of this campaign, as is noted at the bottom of this flyer. Wonder was ultimately integral to the implementation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the U.S., which was officially declared a federal holiday in 1983.
