This lot is part of a long-held collection of scarce, original printing posters acquired from an ex-employee of promoter John F. Leonard, who founded Records-Hawaii after moving to Honolulu in 1968. A year later he started JFL Concerts, which brought many big acts to Hawaii including: The Jacksons, Rod Stewart, Journey and Janis Joplin. Leonard's company also published Sunbums, a free bi-weekly Honolulu newspaper connecting rock music to the local entertainment industry. To save money, he often had his concert posters & advertising material produced on thin newsprint paper he had leftover from his Sunbums stock.
This original poster promoted Jeff Beck playing at the Honolulu International Center on July 30th, 1975. Beck, known for his innovative and experimental approach to the guitar, made a name for himself as a member of The Yardbirds and later with the Jeff Beck Group and continued to have a solo career for many decades. He passed away in 2023 at the age of 78. This vintage poster is a very unique find and we've never seen another one like it surface in our auctions. Act accordingly because we might not see another one of these for a long time, if ever!
