Presenting this ULTRA RARE, original printing concert poster created for Jethro Tull's appearance at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, BC on June 10th, 1972. This is the FIRST and only example of this issue we have ever auctioned - we have never seen another one surface.
The poster was designed by legendary cartoonist & caricaturist Kerry Waghorn, whose first concert poster commission was for Laura Nyro a few years prior. He was soon invited into a partnership with artist Bob Masse, moving into Masse's studio in Vancouver and continuing to design concert posters into the 1970s.
Waghorn designed the famous Led Zeppelin Pacific Coliseum poster (well-known by deep Zeppelin collectors as one of the rarest Zep posters on the planet) for a show scheduled a week after this Jethro Tull concert took place at the same venue. Unfortunately the Zeppelin June 18th, 1972 show was canceled and the posters Waghorn produced were either not distributed, taken down or thrown away - which "led" to their ultra scarcity today. This Jethro Tull poster for their June 10th show is a similar relic as far as long lost posters are concerned.
This is easily the MOST IMPORTANT and special vintage Jethro Tull poster we have ever auctioned! The show occurred just a few months after the release of Jethro Tull's fifth studio album Thick As A Brick. This was what many consider to have been the band's first progressive rock album and it has gone down in history as one of the genre's quintessential albums. Advanced collectors should not pass up the opportunity to acquire this poster because we may never see another one surface again for a very long time - if EVER!
