This original poster was produced for Procol Harum (with Cat Stevens in support!) appearing at Painters Mill Music Fair in April of 1971. Procol Harum is a British rock band known for their unique fusion of rock, classical music, and progressive rock. The band was formed in London in 1967 and is perhaps best known for their iconic and timeless song, "A Whiter Shade of Pale", which was released in 1967 and remains one of the classic anthems of the 1960s. Having established a signature sound, Cat Stevens enjoyed a string of success in the early seventies. His "Teaser and the Firecat" album would be released a few months after this show. It reached number two on the charts and achieved gold record status within three weeks of its release. The legendary record included several timeless hits like "Peace Train", "Morning Has Broken" and "Moonshadow". Tree Frog Productions was a grassroots promotion company that staged concerts at Painters Mill Music Fair, a small theater in Owings Mills Maryland, a suburb north of Baltimore. This artwork was produced by Alan Rose, who went on to work with National Lampoon and create album artwork for bands including It's A Beautiful Day. The posters were printed in small quantities and are next to impossible to find in any condition. A rare original poster that will likely not appear again in our auction anytime soon!
