This scarce, original poster announced The Grateful Dead appearing at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland for a magical 2 night run in June of 1984.
The Grateful Dead performed at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, six times during the 1980s. A pair of concerts in ’83, ’84, and ’85 were a treat for the region's fans. This was before the band had a hit with “Touch of Grey,” when the freak scene became too much for this suburban community.
This poster was printed for the 1984 shows and was only posted at the box office and select Ticketron outlets. We've only seen it offered twice in the past 15 years. Authentic Grateful Dead concert posters from the ’80s don’t pop up for sale too often. The Dead relied on newspapers, radio, and the Grateful Dead hotline—otherwise, word of mouth was all that was needed to fill the seats.
Condition: Creases, tape residue and pulls on reverse.
