This SUPER RARE Original Poster announced The Band at D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, on October 27th, 1969. THE BAND… do you need to know anything else? Selected by Dylan to back him on his groundbreaking '66 electric tour, they began the wild ride of rock and roll royalty. Formerly known as Levon and the Hawks, they were the only band that could provide the vibe Dylan required.
Only ten years later, Robbie Robertson stated in The Last Waltz that they would "drive the train into the station while it was still shining."
During that span, this group of talented Canadians—plus Arkansan Levon Helm—created a body of work that rivals any performers of their era. Stacked with three exceptional vocalists, Robertson on Telecaster, and the genius of Garth Hudson, THE BAND turned folk rock on its head and helped define the genre now known as Americana.
There aren’t many great posters for THE BAND. Their standout as THE BAND was Randy Tuten’s BG 169 from April 1969. After that, the list is small. This is one of the few gems—so if you need a killer poster from this essential first tour, now is the time.
Condition Details: Tape pulls, tape residue and pulls on reverse, corner bumps.
