1965- Red Dog Saloon– The Charlatans– PAE Graded - Extra Fine 60

The Charlatans groundbreaking performances at the Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City Nevada in June of 1965 are Legendary in the annals of the San Francisco Psychedelic Scene. The poster that was created for these “first ever” psychedelic dance concerts commonly referred to as “The Seed” is a rare and powerful historic document from that event. The poster was designed by George Hunter and Michael Ferguson and is considered by collectors as “the first Psychedelic concert poster”. This is the second version of this historic poster with the corrected date for the performances.This original printing measures 10" x 13 7/8" and exhibits the following flaws. Age toning throughout and a water stain on the bottom portion around the words “Red Dog Saloon”. Pinholes and a small amount of missing paper on the top and bottom corners and edges. There is a horizontal fold with tiny tears on each edge of the fold. There are several creases and crunches present as well. On the Reverse there is writing in both pen and pencil masking tape along the bottom edge plus two pieces of mounting tape on the top. Tape pulls and glue reside on the back as well.. Although this poster shows a laundry list of flaws it is remarkably mostly intact and very presentable.
