Moonalice was formed in 2007 from previous members of the Flying Other Brothers. Guitarist Barry Sless and drummer John Molo have also performed with Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead from time to time. Their colorful concert posters are often designed over the years by talented artists across the region. This Moonalice issue was created in 2011 by artist Chris Shaw to pay tribute to the late great Owsley Stanley.

Augustus Owsley Stanley III was a true innovator and iconoclast. He will most notably be remembered for his role in the manufacture and distribution of LSD in San Francisco the 1960's. It was the famous “Owsley” acid that was served up by The Merry Pranksters at the famed Acid Tests and Trips Festivals of 1965 and 1966.
