Alan Freed was a pioneering American disc jockey who played a crucial role in popularizing rock and roll music in the 1950s. Freed organized some of the earliest rock and roll concerts, such as the Moondog Coronation Ball in Cleveland in 1952, which is considered one of the first major rock and roll shows. These events often featured integrated audiences and performers, which was revolutionary during the era of racial segregation. This unused ticket was for The Alan Freed Show at Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh on April 22nd, 1960. Historical unused tickets for iconic performers remain one of the most valued in the music memorabilia market today. Mainly focusing on posters and handbills we at PAE seldom see them come through the door so this is a real treat for us to offer this one!
