Lightnin' Hopkins was a legendary American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Known for his deeply expressive and raw style, he became one of the most influential figures in Texas blues. This uncommon issue, which appears in the Art of Rock plate 2.104, advertised the legend playing at The Matrix in San Francisco in September 1965 along with Jefferson Airplane.
The tiny-sized Matrix club was located in the Marina district of San Francisco and was managed for a short period by Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane fame. The club produced a great series of posters and handbills. Several early advertisements for the club, like this one here, provide collectors an opportunity to acquire a documented history of the music scene in San Francisco during the mid to late sixties. This piece is 100% Original with no restoration!
