This original artwork is numbered 12/36 signed by the artist, the late great Rick Griffin!
We are excited to offer this SIGNED ORIGINAL ART by the late, great master Rick Griffin. This beautiful piece was created with a small series of paintings in 1990 that utilized images which frequently popped up in his work. The Flying Eyeball and Hopi Indian mask were reoccurring themes in Ricks creations. This series of original art paintings used a common stencil - but each painting was unique using different color schemes, hand airbrushing and brushwork. The series was supposed to be a run of 36 finished pieces but it was never fully completed. Some were numbered, others were not. An unforeseen result of this project was Rick being hospitalized for respiratory failure, brought on by exposure to canned spray paint in his unventilated studio. This piece here was numbered 12/36 on illustration board.
In recent years we have witnessed a huge increase in demand for Griffin Original Art by collectors worldwide. The reason is simple. In most cases, artwork like this does not make it outside the artist's circle of immediate family or personal possessions. So when something like this DOES surface, its uniqueness and desirability is quickly perceived by collectors.
Condition: Finger bend top and bottom edge.
