This nearly pristine condition unused Concert Ticket was discovered in a collection of promotional material from a one-time benefit concert held in Philadelphia in 1971. The collection includes original promotional materials once belonging to promoter William Kelly, the organizer of "Blues Bag One," a charity event for disadvantaged youth.

 

The Allman Brothers headlined this once-in-a-lifetime blues jam. Kelley conceived of Blues Bag and, with the council of Duane Allman, booked a blues-heavy lineup of guitar virtuosos. The lineup included Luther Allison and Buddy Guy, featuring legendary bluesman Mississippi Fred McDowell and 22-year-old Bonnie Raitt.

 

In the summer of 1971, The Allman Brothers were on the cusp of critical and commercial success, having released the incomparable At Fillmore East album just a month earlier. However, as fate would have it, the band tragically lost its musical and spiritual leader within three months of this show. Duane Allman took his final ride on October 29, 1971, at 24.
