A rare CGC High Graded 9.9 Condition Postcard! Any examples that meet the super strict CGC grading standards of 9.9 or higher are a TINY fraction of surviving, top quality condition items. This Postcard is part of a group of recently unearthed original Grande Ballroom material acquired decades ago by a collector intimately connected to the late 1960s Detroit music scene. We now have the pleasure of offering these rare, difficult to find relics to the collecting community in this auction!
This Original Grande Ballroom card advertises the Chambers Brothers performing at the venue in December 1967. The Grande Ballroom series produced some of the finest imagery from the 1960s music scene. In many cases promoter Russ Gibb chose to only produce postcards to promote events. That being the case, Grande cards and card sets have become one of the most highly sought after items by serious collectors. The print runs were low and the artwork was equally compelling with artists like Gary Grimshaw and Carl Lundgren creating visual masterworks on a weekly basis. The material is obscenely difficult to find in undamaged condition, plus the history of the Grande is as interesting as any of the San Francisco dance halls.
