This lot is part of a group of recently unearthed original Grande Ballroom material acquired decades ago by a collector intimately connected to the late 1960s Detroit music scene. We now have the pleasure of offering these rare, difficult to find relics to the collecting community in this auction!

This original Postcard for Scott Richard Case, The MC5 and other Detroit acts is a favorite among Grande collectors. The acts are long gone but the humorous image lives today. The great Gary Grimshaw did the design on this postcard along with a photo by Leni Sinclair. Gary Grimshaw was an influential American graphic artist and designer who made a significant impact on the counterculture and rock music scene during the 1960s and beyond. He was closely associated with the Detroit music scene and was responsible for creating concert material for legendary bands and artists, such as The Stooges, and the Grateful Dead. All postcards from the Grande Ballroom are highly sought after and very collectible. The Grande Ballroom was the epicenter of the 60’s scene in the upper Midwest and the artistic quality of the artworks rivals anything done out west.
