This lot is part of a group of recently unearthed original Grande Ballroom material acquired decades ago by a collector intimately connected to the late 1960s Detroit music scene. We now have the pleasure of offering these rare, difficult to find relics to the collecting community in this auction!

This Original Postcard was designed by renowned Detroit artist Gary Grimshaw for a run of shows featuring the MC5 and Southbound Freeway. MC5 started their music career in Michigan and developed a reputation for energetic and polemical live performances. This event also featured poetry by John Sinclair, along with an extensive lineup of performers. The Grande Ballroom series produced some of the finest imagery from the 1960’s music scene. In many cases, promoter Russ Gibb chose to only produce postcards to promote events. That being the case, Grande cards and card sets have become one of the most highly sought after items by serious collectors.
