This lot is part of a group of recently unearthed original Grande Ballroom material acquired decades ago by a collector intimately connected to the late 1960s Detroit music scene. We now have the pleasure of offering these rare, difficult to find relics to the collecting community in this auction!
We are pleased to present this Original Grande Ballroom Postcard designed by the late great Detroit artist Gary Grimshaw! This edition advertises The Fugs and the MC5 performing at the venue in November 1967 along with Gang and The Ashmollyan Quintet in support. The Grande Ballroom series produced some of the finest imagery from the 1960s music scene. There was a poster created for this event (we auctioned one earlier this year), however in many cases, promoter Russ Gibb chose to produce only postcards to promote events at the Grande. We have only auctioned another example of this rare Postcard once in the past 15 years!
