This original double sized Postcard showcases a famous collaboration between Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley. The image was created to promote several weeks of shows in the summer of 1968. The month's lineup included powerhouse performances by the Who and the Grateful Dead at the Fillmore West. Griffin and Kelley, The Dead and The Who, talk about dynamic duos! The hit Magic Bus by The Who was released on July 27, 1968, about 2 weeks prior to their appearance at the Fillmore West listed on this incredible concert postcard, and their LP Magic Bus The Who On Tour was released in the U.S. on September 1, 1968, about two weeks after the show.

The Grateful Dead's 2nd LP was released about one month prior to this gig at Fillmore West. Rick Griffin & Alton Kelley's artwork was originally destined for shows at the Family Dog / Avalon Ballroom venue (for the FD-130/131 gigs), although since Chet Helms couldn't afford color printing at that point in the Family Dog's financial descent, Rick moved it over to Bill Graham, replacing the band line-ups listed in the right & left panels of the artwork.
