This wonderful poster is a collaboration by two of the greatest artists of the period. Robert Crumb and Gilbert Shelton were most well known for their incredible body of work as artists in the underground comix movement. However, each did a handful of concert posters as well.
Shelton designed several posters for The Vulcan Gas company series but Crumb rarely did concert posters. This poster was created for three days of Soundproof Productions events at the Avalon that featured It’s a Beautiful Day Country Weather and Big Mama Thornton. It was printed by “Rip Off Press” and exhibits a fine example of Crumb & Shelton's classic "Jukebox" image from the Soundproof series. This lovely image is featured in the “Art of Rock” book Plate # 2.27. We rarely auction this poster and haven't offered an example in over 3 years!
