It’s with great pleasure we can offer this exceedingly rare original Janis Joplin concert handbill in our auction! It was produced for the legendary singer's appearance at Sicks’ Stadium in Seattle Washington on July 5th 1970. As pacific northwest material goes, this piece is a real treasure. Some of the biggest names of the era played shows at the famed Seattle venue, such as Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Presley.
This concert took place just three months before her death and it was Joplin's first show after her run with the Festival Express concerts. The Youngbloods, Pacific Gas & Electric and Steve Miller Band opened for Janis and her full tilt boogie band on this night in Seattle. The actual lineup included a 5th group, a local Seattle band named Butterfat that opened for PG&E.
Six years ago another example of this handbill cataloged as "Very Good Condition" with creases small spots of residue toning and writing on the back sold for $625 in another public auction. This example is in much better shape in terms of quality & condition. This is one lot you do not want to pass up!
Condition: Foxing top left corner.
