This original Charlatans poster for a 1967 show at the legendary California Hall was designed by Michael Ferguson, the band’s piano player. Though not credited, legend has it that Rick Griffin also did much of the lettering designs toward the bottom half of the poster. California Hall was a popular San Francisco ballroom for 1960’s psychedelic dance concerts and The Charlatans were a classic 1960s band that could be enjoyed there. When put together it makes for a beautiful and super eye appealing poster.
PLEASE NOTE: This image is listed in The Art of Rock book with the incorrect year of 1966, however the correct date is indeed April 16th, 1967.
