This poster was an advertisement for the Psychedelic Shop. The Psychedelic Shop was the venture of Ron and Jay Thelin. The Psychedelic shop was a popular gathering place and central distribution point for hippie posters ephemera and paraphanalia. This poster was Rick Griffin's first comission when he arrived to San Francisco from Southern California– you can identify this design as the turning point where Grffin's style transformed from Surf Art to Psychedelia.
The FIRST CGC graded example to appear at public auction!We recently sold an unsigned reprint of this poster for close to $200. This is an intact very harshly graded original First Print signed by the King himself! Sure to be a wonderful bargain for the winning bidder!
