This seldom-seen, Randy Tuten designed Original Handbill features the legendary Big Mama Thornton, Sandy Bull and Mendelbaum for a 2-day run of shows in May 1970 at the Great Highway. Approximately seven months after The Family Dog was forced out of the Avalon Ballroom, Chet Helms opened up shop on the Great Highway. The site was at the former Edgewater Ballroom part of the Playland at the Beach complex. Due to budget constraints, relatively few posters were produced for the shows at 660 Great Highway. Mostly handbills like this one were used to promote those concerts and they were printed in small quantities.
Condition: Small tears left edge, stains, foxing, handling.
