This original cardboard GLOBE POSTER was produced for Bobby "Blue" Bland's appearance at Prout's Club Alhambra in New Orleans on September 13th, 1978. Bobby Blue Bland became one of the great storytellers of R&B, gospel blues, and soul music. After his number 1 hit "Further On Up The Road" made waves, his songs charted regularly through the 1960s. Bland would eventually be inducted in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Blues Hall of Fame.
From its opening in 1929 until its closure in 2010 Globe Poster Company in Baltimore was the go-to place for musicians circuses drag races and concert producers for bold eye-catching letterpress advertising. It's no secret that Globe cardboard concert posters are the gold standard among advanced collectors. They rarely show up at public auction and when they do they are always met with enthusiastic bidding!
