This is an amazing gem in great condition dating back to the early days of the psychedelic movement. No collection of early Family Dog material would be without this rare piece! This is an unused original ticket for the THIRD ever Family Dog production a dance concert featuring The Mothers of Invention and headliners The Charlatans. This event is listed in the Eric King guide as "FD-III". (There is a handbill for the event listed as AOR-2.9 in the Art Of Rock book).

Titled “A Tribute To Ming The Merciless”, this November 1965 event predates the first Family Dog show at the Avalon by over four months. Earlier in the summer, The Charlatans did a historic 6 week residency at the Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City Nevada which laid part of the groundwork for Chet Helms and Family Dog. Chet's roommate was the son of the Longshoremen's union attorney and that trail leads us back to San Francisco.

The Longshoremen’s Hall venue in San Fran entered the picture with the notable October 16th “Tribute to Doctor Strange” dance concert featuring Jefferson Airplane & The Charlatans. The event for this unused ticket here took place just a month later. It should also be mentioned that this was the FIRST live appearance in San Francisco for The Mothers of Invention!

Historical unused tickets for iconic events remain one of the most valued in the music memorabilia market today. Mainly focusing on posters and handbills, we at PAE seldom see them come through the door so this is a real treat for us to offer, ESPECIALLY in Museum Quality condition!

Condition Details: Unused. Ticket number 144.
