We are pleased to offer this extremely RARE, low print-run, original pre-concert poster for Janis Joplin appearing at the Henry Levitt Arena, Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas on October 24th, 1969. The poster design by R. McIntosh and B.G. Vesper exhibits a series of iconic pictures of Janis along with some cloud illustrations & superb lettering designs, (although the promoters made a slight typo error in the spelling of "Wichita", but it doesn't distract from the beautiful poster design).
Janis headlined this show with her new Kozmic Blues Band, along with the James Cotton Blues Band in support. In 1969 after Janis Joplin departed from Big Brother, Columbia Records released her first solo album on the label called "I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama" about one month before this show.
This is the first time an example of this super scarce original poster is being offered in our auction! We've only seen a small handful of copies surface in any public auctions over the past 10+ years. It is extremely rare and unlikely to appear here again anytime soon.
Condition Details: stains, tears, paper loss, discoloration.
