Surfer Magazine, founded in 1960 by John Severson, was an iconic publication dedicated to the sport and culture of surfing. This lot features Vol 12 Issue 3 of the magazine, produced in August 1971. Notably, legendary poster artist Rick Griffin got his start creating comics for the magazine in the early 1960s. The cartoonist injected his surfing alter ego character, Murphy into the magazine's pages. One such comic appears in this issue!
