At PAE we love seeking out vintage material only available through people deeply involved in the scene years ago. Our goal is to offer the collecting community special items and this lot exemplifies everything we enjoy about that process! This original Business Card was the FIRST Family Dog business card to be produced. This card pre-dates the FD numbered series.
These business cards were used during the early months of 1966 when Rock Scully & Danny Rifkin produced a couple shows for the Family Dog at California Hall (FD-IV and FD-VII). The lettering on this card is the same as The Family Dog lettering incorporated into the artwork on the FD-IV and FD-VII. Scully & Rifkin would soon-after begin exploring a different side of San Francisco’s fledgling music industry with band management - most notably with the Grateful Dead. Months later, Chet Helm would partner up with Bill Graham to start producing shows at the Fillmore.
This historic business card is a very early Family Dog piece of ephemera. It's 100% Original and proves to be a true collectible. No avid FD material collector should be without this piece in their treasure troves!
