It goes without saying that Dr. Timothy Leary was one of the most important figures in the counterculture movement. The one-time Harvard professor was an early advocate of the psychedelic experience and consciousness-expanding substances. This poster advertised "an evening with Timothy Leary" at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX on October 7th, 1979. The Armadillo opened in Austin just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company. It became the premier venue in that musically rich city from 1970-1980. The legendary music club offered an incredibly eclectic range of performers in its 10-year tenure. The posters from these shows represent one of the greatest collections of poster art available anywhere!
