Appearing for the first time in our auction, this vintage cardboard poster was produced and used in San Jose in August of 1966 to promote a ticket giveaway contest for The Beatles concert at Candlestick Park on August 29th, 1966. The famous Candlestick Park concert was the very LAST performance by the most important musical group of all time! This bright, day-glow ink poster advertised registration info for the contest in downtown San Jose and announced there would be 25 lucky winners, with a deadline to register by August 25th, just 4 days before the show.
Regarding music memorabilia, most experts agree that there is The Beatles, and then everyone else. We have previously auctioned the famous Wes Wilson-designed Candlestick Park concert poster, one of the most important and sought-after concert posters ever issued, which always attracts heavy attention when one surfaces. This original relic here, although not a concert poster, goes hand in hand with the Beatles collector focusing on advertisement material related to their final tour, and more importantly, their FINAL concert! Very few of these advertising posters are known to exist, in any condition. The one you see here is in near-mint condition with no tears or pinholes.
