This lot offers an early handbill for a performance of the Beard at The Wharf Theater in San Francisco.
The Beard was a groundbreaking avant-garde theatrical production and not unlike the music of the time this play changed theatre from that point forward . The play paired the legendary outlaw Billy The Kid (William H. Bonney) in eternity with film actress and sex symbol Jean Harlow. The play was very risqué and controversial at the time and was repeatedly shut down for being obscene.
