Appearing for the first time in our auction, this original handbill designed by artist Dennis Nolan was produced as a 'tour blank' (which featured Chet Helms in the image) for various early Big Brother & The Holding Company shows. Several copies were rubber stamped with date and venue information in the center area for different concert locations (like the Red Dog Saloon or the Avalon) but this mint example here is unstamped! Helms not only directed the Family Dog but he was also Big Brother's manager and therefore had a part in the distribution of these early handbills. The design exhibited in the Art Of Rock book on page 90 (AOR-2.3) shows one of these handbill stamped with Red Dog Saloon venue information. We are pleased to offer a blank CGC authenticated high grade 9.8 example of this rare vintage handbill in our auction!
