PLEASE NOTE: There were two Original Pre-Concert Printings of the FD-79, a standard sized (OP-1) version and a 20" x 28" larger sized (OP-2) version, this here being the OP-2 larger one. Both are considered original first printings.
This original first printing poster is one of Rick Griffin's most appreciated and collected posters. The design is a collage of various popular characters from advertising accompanied by some favorite FD poster references. It's the timeless message of Everyone is Good at Heart, that brings this piece even greater meaning.
This print was made for the opening of the Denver Family Dog venue. The Denver Family Dog was a short-lived experiment to bring a San Francisco-type concert venue to the Rockies. The venture failed to make any money and closed within a year, but the club did produce a handful of great posters before its end.
