Appearing for the first time in our auction! This rare original poster was produced for Joe Cocker and the Mad Dogs & Englishmen band appearing at Keaney Gym, University of Rhode Island in Kingston on May 10th, 1970. The concert was advertised as part of the Gansett Tribal Rock Festival, sponsored by the Narragansett Brewing Company. Joe Cocker's version of "With a Little Help from My Friends" he performed at Woodstock the previous year was a showstopper and helped launch his already growing popularity. Onstage, he exhibited an idiosyncratic physical intensity, flailing his arms and capturing the audience. In early 1970 he formed a new band. It was a large group of more than 20 great musicians, including pianist and bandleader Leon Russell. This vintage original poster is uncommon and has a great design!
Condition: Tape, creases, handling, toning, tape pulls.
