This original, pre-concert printing Grateful Dead poster was created by Detroit artist Gary Grimshaw and it's one of the most popular Dead posters of all time. The cartoon image shows just how diverse Grimshaw’s talent was. He utilized varying styles throughout his poster making career. Also worthy of note, the band's run in Ann Arbor in 1971 is legendary with deadheads.
PLEASE NOTE: This example here is the version without the ticket strip information printed at the bottom edge of the poster, however it is still an Original Pre-Concert Printing to advertise the shows. Before the show dates, some of these 16.63" x 22" original posters were produced with the ticket strip in blue ink, and some were produced without. The only post-concert reprints produced of this issue are known as PCL-139, measuring 20" x 26" and were hand-signed and numbered by Gary Grimshaw.
