Big Mama Thornton was one of the most legendary rhythm and blues musicians of all time. She recorded the original versions of hit songs such as Hound Dog and Ball and Chain, and her legacy lives on to this day. This poster from 1970 advertises Big Mama Thornton at the Academy of Music in New York City. Thornton was joined by some of the other greatest blues musicians of the day, including George Harmonica Smith, Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers, and Big Joe Turner.
