The Jamaica World Music Festival was a very special event for the Grateful Dead and Deadheads in 1982. Many fans made the trip to Montego Bay for this one! In dramatic fashion The Dead played "Fire on the Mountain" at sunrise. The Beach Boys, Rick James, The B-52’s, The Clash, Peter Tosh, Aretha Franklin and many more also performed this 3 day festival.
This original cardboard version is different than the ones that generally come up. It was printed in Los Angeles by Colby and advertises local travel agencies at the bottom. The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography, although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union, the screen printers union and the typesetters union.
