This poster was designed for a 1967 Moby Grape show at the Ark in Sausalito. Baltimore Steam Packet and the Only Alternative & His Other Possibilities were in support. During the boon of psychedelic rock Sausalito became a hangout for many of the Bay Area bands. After they finished their main gigs they would pop over the Bridge and play late night sets at The Ark. The venue was a favorite destination for these shows as it was the only venue open late. The Ark was only open for a short time but many of the SF bands played there including Big Brother Steve Miller and Santana. It has recently been brought to our attention that this poster (as well as several other Ark posters from this series) were created by John Lichtenwalner when he was working as a staff artist at Portal Productions.
Condition: Paper loss, pinholes, tape residue and pulls on reverse, tear right edge.
