The Carousel Ballroom series exhibited some of the most interesting and unusual promotional material of all time. This mindblowing specimen was created by artist Steve Catron who was also responsible for the famous Carousel Acid Drop Grateful Dead design. This handbill is another incredible effort from this seldom-used artist. The shows featured Erma Franklin Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch in April 1968. Santana was still a supporting act!
Besides its unparalleled art and iconic band in the lineup, this Carousel Ballroom handbill was produced in extremely small quantities. Very few examples of this issue still survive today in ANY condition.
There are hundreds - if not thousands - of collectors who strive to acquire all of the Carousel posters and handbills of the era to make a full set. Demand far exceeds supply for this Santana handbill when one considers how few times these pieces have surfaced in public auctions over the years. Don't pass up this opportunity!
