We are pleased to offer this long-lost original printing postcard in our auction. This stunning image of guitar god Jimi Hendrix is one of the most powerful ever created for this legendary musical hero.
This piece is extremely hard to obtain and highly coveted by collectors worldwide. The late great Detroit artist Gary Grimshaw rendered this piece for a 1968 Hendrix show at Detroit's Masonic Temple. There were no pre-concert posters created for this event only postcards! This is the version with red ink on the back (OPC-C) and was used to send to the Grande mailing list.
The series of Detroit concert material produced some of the finest imagery from the 1960s music scene. In many cases, promoter Russ Gibb chose to only produce postcards to promote events. That being the case these cards and card sets have become one of the most highly sought-after items by serious collectors.
