Here we are offering the EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to locate Original FIRST PRINTING (OP-1) of one of the most popular Rolling Stones posters of all time.
There are several factors that set this lot apart from others: This is the FIRST Signature Series OP-1 first printing example of this poster we've ever offered in our auction! We previously auctioned a lower 9.6 graded example 3 years ago for $3,300.00 but it was NOT signed! More importantly, This is the FIRST HIGH 9.8 CGC GRADED example of an OP-1 first printing BG-289 to EVER appear in any auction! It's a signed Signature Series gem, you can't get any better than that!!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Artist David Singer did not like how the dice came out with the white line on the lower left edge of the top die when the OP-1's were printed, so when the BG-289 issue was reprinted he had that section shaded differently to remove the line. According to poster expert Eric King, in the days between the first and second printings, Singer would sometimes color in the white line on the OP-1's by hand with a black felt tip pen. This OP-1 here is UNTOUCHED and not colored in.
The Stones hit tune Tumbling Dice serves as the inspiration for this killer design from Fillmore artist David Singer. This large format poster is considered the last poster in the BG numbered series. The 1972 Rolling Stones tour was one of the Bands most celebrated and well documented tours in their long and storied history. The tour started on the heels of the release of the band's seminal recording Exile on Main Street. The Exile album is considered by many fans to be the group's finest.
