Mojo Navigator Rock and Roll News was one of the first fan-made zines. It was published in San Francisco California for just one year between August 1966 and 1967. The zines were printed with a mimeograph that was created by David Harris and Greg Shaw. Each issue features articles related to everything about the 1960s San Francisco rock music scene. The zine covered early Grateful Dead Jefferson Airplane The Fillmore anything Haight-Ashbury relevant and featured exclusive interviews.
Issue 11 (November 1966) included an interview with Country Joe & The Fish, who were also on the cover, plus an original pre concert first printing handbill for Country Joe at Berkeley's Jabberwock on November 21st. The Jabberwock started as a successful jazz club in the early sixties until it was purchased by Bill Jolly Blue Ehlert in 1965. Ehlert converted much of the venue's performances to a more psychedelic sound. In 1966 Ehlert hired Jesse Cahn who had been a guest drummer for the Chambers Brothers to co manage the Jabberwock while he ran the Matrix in San Francisco.
