This Family Dog Original First (and only) Printing Concert Poster was produced on thin board stock and is extremely rare. This is the FIRST example we have ever auctioned of this 1968 issue! The Fugs cancelled their appearance at this show. Chet Helms allowed the Denver promoters of these post-Chet Helms involvement shows to use the Family Dog logo at the old Denver-Dog location. This poster is listed in Eric King's guide as FD-680202.
Poster expert Eric King states in his guide: "After the official Family Dog closed 1601 W. Evans, several local people who had met Chet Helms a number of times put on five additional concerts at 1601 W. Evans. A hand printed silk screen poster was done for each of the five concerts beginning with this item (re: FD-680112 in his book) and running over the next five weeks (there apparently was no concert one weekend). About 400 to 500 of each were printed. No handbills were printed. A simply drawn approximate version of the Family Dog logo appears on each of these posters. The exact status of this usage is ambiguous."
