This Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane original poster promotes the historic FIRST Kaleidoscope run of concerts. These shows were scheduled to take place at 1228 Vine Street but at the last minute were moved to the Embassy Ballroom in the Ambassador Hotel at 3400 Wilshire Boulevard. The Kaleidoscope underwent an additional location change until finally settling in the former Earl Carroll Theater at 6230 Sunset Boulevard. There, the "in the round" shaped stages were used to present the concerts. All of the posters in the Kaleidoscope series have this unique round design.
Number 1 is the most important number in every collectibles market due to their historical importance. Accordingly, this is a poster that always gets massive attention whenever it appears at public auction. This high quality 9.6 is one of a small handful of CGC graded examples of this original poster to appear for collectors. In summer of 2020, a lower 9.4 graded example reached $1,920.00 in our auction. This lot is certainly one of the major highlights of this auction!
