The FD-5, First Printing Poster is one of the most popular issues in the Family Dog series for several reasons. This piece has tremendous historical significance as it is the very first Family Dog concert held at the Avalon Ballroom. Also, this is the first Family Dog poster to feature the Family Dog slogan "May the baby Jesus shut your mouth and open your mind". Last and certainly not least, this beautiful Wes Wilson design is truly sensational and looks great "on the wall".
We rarely come across examples of this poster, and 9.8 graded top-condition examples like this one are ridiculously scarce. We've tracked this issue at auction for a number of years and it always commands exciting bidding when it appears in the high quality condition seen here. In January 2020 a lower 9.4 graded example reached $5700 in our auction. With the recent surge in CGC graded world-record attention for top quality original posters, we expect this 9.8 treasure to shoot Fireworks..., literally! Do not pass up this opportunity!
