This classic illustration for a Jefferson Airplane concert at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles is one of the most recognized images in concert poster art. It is John Van Hamersveld signature piece and was originally created for a February 1968 concert that featured the Airplane with Blues Harp master Charlie Musselwhite in support.

Van Hamerveld was a founding member of Pinnacle Productions and his work is a lasting remnant from a rare period in time. The Shrine/Pinnacle shows were LA’s major contribution to the sixties live music scene. The concerts featured all of the top performers of the day all in big time Hollywood style at the 500+ seat Shrine.

This 2nd edition poster was printed by personality posters a well-known distributor of headshop posters during the early seventies.
