Here we have a relic from one of the more exciting events in the history of Rock and Roll. This original first-printing poster is just the FIRST CGC Graded example of a Festival Express run from this Montreal venue to ever appear in our auction. It is the RAREST of the Festival Express posters!
Originally billed as the Trans-Continental Pop Festival, this cross-country tour made stops in three Canadian cities to stage a show with the Grateful Dead, The Band, Janis Joplin, and other acts of the day. This poster advertises a stop at The Autostade Stadium in Montreal Canada on June 24th, 1970, which was ultimately canceled.
The real story however was the train that carried the musicians across Canada during that summer. The camaraderie led to an outrageous non-stop party/ jam session. The joy is forever captured in the 2003 Film "Festival Express".
