This cardboard poster was designed for the 17th annual Long Beach Blues Festival, held on Labor Day weekend in 1996. Performers included Little Richard, Bobby Blue Bland, and The Texas Tornado! This poster was printed by Colby Poster.
The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union the screen printers union and the typesetters union.
