The Grateful Dead's New Year's shows were the highlight of the year for many of their faithful legions. Bill Graham would pull out all the stops for this annual event. The former Ice rink, Winterland, where band had performed since 1966, was the site of some of their finest performances over the years. The final Dead concert at Winterland, which fell on New Year's Eve 1978, is regarded as one of the Dead's finest performances of all at the historic venue. It was one of those nights where it all worked out seamlessly.
The accompanying HUGE original poster for that show is equally well-regarded. Legendary artists Mouse and Kelley created one of the finest efforts of their longtime collaboration. The legendary Blue Rose is a poster that deserves a home in every San Francisco poster collection and is sure to bring the winning bidder much satisfaction now and even more with each passing year.
It's no secret the famous Blue Rose poster has been bootlegged and pirate printings have continued to surface over the years. As we all know, CGC authentication has brought much-needed integrity and stability to this very popular segment of the vintage concert materials marketplace. Collectors can now bid with confidence, knowing this example is an Original, Pre-Concert First Printing of this monumental poster.
